How long will I need to be in therapy?
The short answer…it depends! Each person’s experiences are different, which is why I use a different blend of approaches to address your unique needs. Since therapy is an individual process, it’s difficult to say how long someone will need to be in therapy to meet their goals. However, most clients start to feel better and notice shifts in their mood, thought patterns and emotions after the first few sessions. The length of treatment depends on your trauma history, treatment goals and a host of other factors. Typical sessions will last about 60 minutes, and 90 minute sessions are available upon request. Frequency of sessions is individualized based on your needs, availability and affordability. Clients typically feel better faster if they can commit to sessions once a week at the beginning of the treatment process.
What are the benefits of in person trauma therapy?
While healing trauma can be done effectively both virtually and in person, clients who attend in person sessions report feeling more deeply connected to the therapist, being able to give their full attention to the session, and being able to speak freely without the concern of being overheard. Therapists are better able to assess nonverbal communication with in person sessions, which is a vital part of experiential trauma therapy.
